HSJ Value Awards 2019: Facilities and estates management award
In 2019 Barts Health NHS Trust entered a submission for the Healthcare Service Journal national awards for Facilities and estates management award.
The Submission sought to recognise the results achieved with the partnership of Skanska and Sust-N Ltd.
The award focussed on the Behavioural Change Programme developed and delivered by Sust-N Ltd
“By putting additional resources into waste behavioural change teams and carrying out audits, this has improved so that more than 70 per cent of clinical waste is now classified as offensive, representing a saving of £1.5m.
Since 2014, more than half a million bin audits have been carried out, with 32,200 waste audits being sent to departments.
Compliance around waste segregation has increased from 83.2 per cent to 92.2 per cent, and over 12,000 staff have had waste behavioural change training.”
